Standing tall in the snowy massif of the Markha Valley, Mount Kang Yatse I is a sight to behold at an elevation of 6,401 M. Beside Kand Yatse I, there are the sister peaks, Kang Yatse II (6,250 M), Kang Yatse III (6,280 M) and Kang Yatse IV (6,130 M). Kang Yatse I is a technical peak and gives you a unique experience of climbing above the 6000 M mountain peak in Ladakh. Being the tallest peak in the Hemis National Park, its parched terrain and demanding nature make Mount Kang Yatse 1 peak climbing one of the most stimulating treks in the mountains of India.

Indian trekking and mountaineering company Kahlur Adventures offers Kang Yatse I and combo expedition so that you can fulfil your dream of scaling these exhilarating mountain peaks. We have a team of expert mountaineers and trek leaders who guide you in accomplishing this gratifying task. Kang Yatse 1 is reserved for experienced trekkers and mountaineers as it is a technical climb and you need a certain skill set to successfully summit this mountain. On this expedition, you will climb above the 6000 M mountain peak in India and indulge in the high-altitude mountaineering. After successfully summit the KY 1 peaks you can easily trained your self for 7000 M Mountains link Mount Nun 7135 and Mount Kun 7077 M.  The best time to go on the Kang Yatse 1 expedition is between July and September

Kang Yatse I is a perfect Pre-Everest peak, it is ideal for trekkers looking to upgrade their skills. You will navigate through icy snowfields, crevasses, boulders, moraines and tricky couloir. Hence, it is crucial to maintain physical fitness and resilience before embarking on this trek of a lifetime. Besides the Kang Yatse mountain peaks, other 6000 M peaks are part of the Markha Valley, Dzo Jongo West (6,280 M) and Reponi Mallai Ri (6,050 M). All the hardship you may endure on this trip will be compensated by the breathtaking landscapes and a sense of accomplishment at the end of the trek.

DETAILS ITINERARY OF MOUNT KANG YATSE 01 – 6401M EXPEDITIONS :

You will be attempting to summit Kang Yatse 1 peak with the best mountain climbing expedition company in India Kahlur Adventures and we have curated a route map that will be the most exciting. We make all the bookings in advance to make your travel hassle-free.

 

Day 01 – Arrive in Leh | Elevation: 3500 M

Mount Kang Yatse II expedition will commence from Leh. Once you reach Leh, our representative will place you in a hotel pre-booked by Kahlur Adventures. You can explore the famous tourist spots in Leh at your convenience and spend the night at the hotel.

Day 02 – Rest and Acclimatization

This day is reserved for rest and acclimatization as you have gained a significant altitude and your body needs to adjust accordingly. On this day, you can indulge in local cuisine and culture. This day will also be useful to run any last-minute errands for the trek. Later on, you will be addressed by Kahlur Adventures’ trek leader about the details of the Kang Yatse II peak expedition.

Day 03 – Leh to Skiu | Elevation: 3,500 M

On this day on the Kang Yatse Expedition, after breakfast and check out, you will head to Skiu. The drive from Leh to Skui will take about 3 hours. Once you reach Skiu, you will be settled in the campsite and severed lunch by Kahlur Adventures. The Skiu campsite is a very important halt on this trek as it gives you a taste of the general terrain you will be entering for the next few days. After taking some rest, you will go on an acclimatization walk accompanied by our trek leaders and other climbers. The weather up here can be arid and hot but you will soon be accustomed to your current environment. You will have your dinner and stay overnight here.

Day 04- Skiu to Markha Village | Elevation: 3710 M | 8hrs Trek 19 Km

You will start the day early with breakfast and start for Markha Village. On entering Ladakh, you will face extremely dry weather under harsh sunlight. But don’t let the treacherous greetings of Markha Valley scare you off. You are in the safe hands of Kahlur Adventures’ team. The ascent will take you through sharp rocky peaks, the poplar trees of this region and a muddy trail. You will cross a small wooden bridge over an aggressive stream. You will walk on dirt roads and rocky sea beds from Sara, the midpoint of today’s trek. Upon reaching the campsite, you will pitch tents with the help of Kahlur Adventures. You will have your dinner and stay overnight here at the campsite.

Day 05- Markha Village to Lower Hunkar | Elevation: 3968 M | 6hrs Trek 10 Km

On this day, you will cover a total distance of 11 km. The terrain you will trek on today is comparatively easy and has long patches of even ground with few ascents and descents. After walking for about an hour, you will cross a river and after a while reach Tacha Gompa, a picturesque monastery on top of a muddy mountain. After another hour of climbing, you will reach a small village canteen and will stop for a while to have snacks and rest. From this point on, you will trek for about 2 more hours to reach the Campsite at Lower Hunkar. The backdrop of the campsite is filled with stunning views of the mountains of India. Kahlur Adventures will help you set up the tents in the middle of wheat fields. After dinner, you will retire to the tent for the night.

Day 06- Lower Hunkar to Nimaling | Elevation: 4535 M | 7hrs Trek 11 Km

Today you will wake up with frosty morning air and beautiful sunrise. The day will start early after a quick breakfast. The trek will start with a sharp ascent and reach the Upper Hunkar, a small settlement right in the middle of lush fields and flowers. Prayer plays clad in every village in these mountains making for a splash of colour and good vibes. You will also find Mani stones near roads and rivers inscribed with Buddhist mantras all along the valley. On your way up, you will climb around the Upper Hunkar Valley and get a clear view of Kang Yatse. You will walk past rocks and boulders beside the river and make ascend a muddy mountain. You will soon make a descent and cross over a river on a bridge. You will fill up some fresh water in the spring and rest here for a while. After that, you will continue climbing up to reach the Twin Lake. From here on, the terrain is easily accessible. You might get some sightings of the local wildlife on this patch. Once you reach Nimaling, your abode for tonight, you can settle a bit and wait for an amazing sunset with a cut of hot tea/coffee in your hands. It is also advised to take acclimatization walks as you have gained a lot of elevation today. Dinner will be provided by Kahlur Adventures and you can retire for the night.

Day 07- Nimaling to Kang Yatse Base Camp | Elevation: 5100 M | 4hrs Trek 5 Km

After having your breakfast at the Shafat Nala camp, you will head towards Base Camp. You will climb upto Moraine camp and keep walking towards the Base Camp. This 5 to 7-hour trek will give you a chance to cross over glacial terrains on your way up. You will stay here for the night in the camp and have a hot supper served by Kahlur Adventures in the mountains.

Day 08- Acclimatization. Training Day

The day is reserved for Acclimatization to get familiar with the thin air. The elevation gained is quite drastic and you need to settle in a different terrain from the previous days. Kahlur Adventures’ trek leader will schedule a practice session for the proper use of climbing gear and equipment like crampons, ice axes and snow boots. On this day, you will also learn to ascend and descend by roping. The second half of the day is to take a rest and save all the energy for the next day.

Day 09- Load ferry to KY-I Advance Base Camp | Elevation: 5300 M

This day will start with breakfast in the lap of the mountains. After that, you will pack up everything with the help of Kahlur Adventures. Load ferry for Kang Yatse I Advance Base Camp. You will hike on steep edges with loose moraine and today’s trek will prepare you for the D-day of the summit. Return to Kang Yatse Base Camp after dropping off the equipment and other essentials.

Day 10- Move to KY-I Advance Base Camp

Today you will gain a significant altitude and reach about 5,300 M. The trek will take about 4 to hours. The trail is tricky but with the experience of the previous day’s trek, you will have an idea of how to navigate it. Upon reaching KY-1 Advance Base Camp, you will relax in your tent.

Day 11- Full Day rest at Advance camp of Kang Yatse 1

This day is reserved for acclimatization and training sessions. Khalur Adventures’ trek leader will help you practice using crampons and ascenders ahead of the summit.

Day 12- Move to KY-I Camp 1 (Summit Camp5750 M)

Today we will move from KY-I Base Camp to Camp 1 and reach an altitude of about 5,950 M. Trekking from Advance Base Camp to Camp 1 will take about 5 to 6 hours. Take plenty of rest upon reaching the campsite.

Day 13- Summit Kang Yatse 1 (6401 M) and Back to Kang Yatse-I Camp 1

The push for Kang Yaste 1 will start around midnight. This trek is technical and you need to follow every instruction of Kahlur Adventures’ trek leader. You will climb through steep gradient slopes, ice walls, sharp ridges and in the last stretch of the summit climb vertical ice walls. Kang Yatse I Peak will welcome with you the rays of the rising sun and the incredible views of the nearby mountain ranges covered with a blanket of snow. Spend some time here enjoying the gifts of nature and later start descending towards KY-I Camp for an overnight stay.

Day 14- Trek Down to Basecamp

We will trace back our path to the Base Camp and relax and unwind in the tents.

This is a reserve day, an extra day in case of any unpredictable weather changes.

Day 16- Base Camp to Leh |Full Day long trek

A hot breakfast will be served by Kahlur Adventures before packing up the camp. Start traversing to the grazing grounds of Nimaling via Kongmaru La Pass. This stretch of the trail provides stunning views of prayer flags and the backdrop of stunning landscapes. Keep the gradual descent and you will reach Chuskirmo. There will be small for lunch and then drive to Leh. You will be placed in a pre-booked hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 17- Fly back Home

When you have firmly decided to undertake the Tour with Kahlur Adventures, you will need to book the trip with us. We must allocate enough time to prepare, obtain necessary documents and permits, and book hotels and Transport for the trip.

50% Amount one month prior of arrival in India
25% Amount to be one week prior of arrival in India.

Cancellation Policy:

• If the cancellation is made 30 days before the tour starts, 25% of the full payment will be deducted and 75% will be refunded.
• If the cancellation is made 20 days before the tour start, 35% of the full payment will be deducted and 65% will be refunded
• If the cancellation is made 07 days before the tour start, 80% will be deducted and 20% will be refunded.
• No refund is made if the trip is cancelled after the departure for Expedition.
• No refund is made during the running tour.
• The cost of travel permit or any other documentation charges will not be refundable
