DETAILS ITINERARY OF EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK:

Trek to Everest base camp is one of the most important journeys of your life and it will change your perspective about various things for the better. Everest base camp trek is of 14 days and here’s the Kahlur Adventures’ extended plan of the entire trek.

Day 01 – Arrive in Kathmandu | Elevation: 1400 M

On the first day of the Everest base camp trek, you arrive in the historic city of Kathmandu and meet up with the entire team. You also get a brief idea of the important points of the trek from the tour leader of Kahlur Adventures and after that, you can explore the capital city of Nepal. You can visit all the popular tourist sites and indulge in local cuisines, and culture and explore the market.

Day 02 – Kathmandu to Lukla | Elevation: 2860 M and Trek Phakding | Elevation: 2610 M

This day is filled with adventure and begins in the early morning. You will take the adventurous flight to Lukla with the team. Lukla is the starting point of the Everest base camp trek and the doorway to the Khumbu region. From your flight, you will get a glimpse of the majestic Mount Everest in its full glory. The flight to Lukla is one of the highlights of this trek, you can have a breathtaking birds-eye view of the Kathmandu valley and nearby mountain ranges. Upon reaching Lukla, you will trek to Phakding, a village located on the banks of river Dudh Koshi. Here you will stay overnight and take abode in a tea house that will be pre-booked by Kahlur Adventures for your comfort.

Day 03 – Phakding to Namche Bazaar | Elevation: 3440 M

A long day is waiting ahead as you wake up in the mountains by the banks of Dudh Koshi. You will cross the Dudh Koshi river twice on your way up on 2 suspension bridges which is a thrilling experience on its own. After a while you will reach a small village named Monjo which is situated at an elevation of 2850 M. In Monjo, you will enter Sagarmatha National Park, and en route your steep hike to Namche Hill you will cross a suspension bridge over the meeting point of Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi Rivers. The target of the day Namche Bazaar is at an elevation of 3440 M. Namche is the most relevant trading town in the Khumbu Region and is the wealthiest district in Nepal. You can buy authentic Tibetian artefacts in Namche Bazaar and admire the stunning views of the snow-capped mountains.

Day 04 – Namache Bazaar

Since the oxygen levels at this elevation can be tricky, the third day of this trek is for rest so that your body can adapt to the current atmosphere. We at Kahlur Adventures are very conscious about the health of our clients and have planned the day of rest accordingly. A day for acclimatization is very crucial at this point of the trek and you should climb high and sleep low to adjust your body faster. You need to allow your body to take its time in adjusting to the high altitude as it will be beneficial in your overall trek. Today’s agenda is to view Kwangde, Thamserku, and Kangtega peaks. After strolling ahead, you will get to see Lhoste, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and Mount Everest, some of the highest mountain peaks in the world.

Day 05 – Namche Bazaar to Tengboche | Elevation: 3870 M

On hiking towards the next location of the trek, Tengboche, you will reach a valley above Dudh Koshi and get the spectacular views of the peaks of Khumbu: Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. After a small break, the trek will continue on a zig-zag trail and it will take upto two hours to reach Tengboche. Here you will stay for the night and the accommodations here are booked in advance by Kahlur Adventures, meanwhile, you can traverse through the village of Tengboche and visit Dawa Choling Gompa, the monastery here.

Day 06 – Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche | Elevation: 4410 M

On this day, you will make a descent and cross through Rhododendron trees. Just after initiating your journey from Tengboche, you will cross a suspension bridge and after walking for an hour you will reach Pangboche, from here you get the perfect view of Mt Ama Dablam. On your way up, you will cross the river once more and turn towards Imja Valley. Then you will reach the destination of today’s trek Dingboche. This is a pleasant little village with amazing views, surrounded by some impressive mountain peaks, museums, clubs, bakeries, cafes and even an internet cafe. After exploring Dingboche, you should rest for your journey ahead.

Day 07 – Dingboche acclimatization day

This day is for rest and acclimatization in your trek. Hiking up to the ridge overlooking Dingboche or even further to Chukung village, you will get mesmerising views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Chukung Peak, and Imja Tse. You also get an unbelievable view of glacier-covered cliffs in the valley from the ridge.

Day 08– Dingboche to Lobuche | Elevation : 4940 M

The trek ahead is ranging in the levels of altitude and it is of utmost importance that you maintain a slow and steady pace. The landscapes around you will change dramatically and would be barren instead of the greenery that has been your companion till this point on your Everest base camp trek. While hiking further on the Dugla Ridge, you will walk on the moraines on the way to the Khumbu glacier. Here you will be welcomed by the memorials of climbers in the form of rock cairns. The weather up here becomes colder and you will get striking views of Mount Everest. You get the views of the Everest base camp, Nuptse and Pumori from here.

Day 09 – Lobuche to Gorakshep | Elevation: 5170 M to Everest Base Camp | Elevation: 5364 M and Back to Gorakshep

This day will start early and you will reach the main point of this trek today. After a three hour hike, you will reach Gorakshep, the historical site that was the base camp for the 1953 Everest expedition. The spirits of the whole team will be sky high as you walk on the famous trail to Everest base camp. Kahlur Adventures’ experienced tour leaders are trained to keep the entire team enthusiastic on the path to this esteemed trek. Upon reaching the base camp, you can explore the area and walk to the edge of Khumbu Icefall. After exploring the entire Everest base camp and interacting with fellow travellers, you will head back to Gorakshep. The entire trek of the day is almost eight hours long but it is worth all your effort.

Day 10 – Gorakshep to Kalapatthar | Elevation: 5545 M to Pheriche | Elevation: 4370 M

Today is another really exciting day as you hike up to Kalapatthar. To witness the awe-inspiring sunrise from the peaks above, you will have to begin early. One added benefit of climbing up to the Kalapathar is that you get out of this world views of Mount Everest from here. The hike is two hours long and tough but is definitely gratifying. Along with Mt Everest, you also get distinctive views of Khumbu Icefall, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Pumori. After a while, you will descend to Gorakshep and then to Pheriche.

Day 11 – Pheriche to Namche Bazaar | Elevation: 3440 M

The day ahead is long and you will start early. The trek for today is moderate and you will walk down a familiar path toward Namche Bazaar. After completing such an acclaimed task, you will feel a sense of joy as you cross through Tengboche to Phungi Thanga and move forward to Dingboche and Tengboche. On reaching Namche Bazaar, you can relish the food and company of your teammates and locals. Since Kahlur Adventures’ tour leaders have been traversing these peaks for years, they will share some exciting stories of their journey too and you can have some interesting conversations.

Day 12 – Trek from Namche Bazaar to Phakding to Lukla | Elevation: 2860 M

After spending a night in Namche Bazaar, you will begin your descent towards Phakding on this day. On reaching Phakding, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful Himalayan sunsets you will ever see in your life. You will stay overnight in a cosy teahouse once again and take a shower to freshen up.

Day 13 – Lukla to Kathmandu | Elevation: 1400 M

Your Everest base camp trek will come full circle and you fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla. Your day will begin at the crack of dawn. While on the flight back, don’t miss the chance to get a view of some of nature’s best creatives from your window. On reaching Kathmandu, you will be taken to the accommodations that Kahlur Adventures has chosen for you and you can relax overnight.

Day 14 – Depart from Kathmandu

On the last day of the trip, you can explore the city on your own or join other travelers along with the team of Kahlur Adventures. Kathmandu has a lot to offer to its tourists. You can take your flight back home or stay another day to rejoice in the charms of Kathmandu.

When you have firmly decided to undertake the Tour with Kahlur Adventures, you will need to book the trip with us. We must allocate enough time to prepare, obtain necessary documents and permits, and book hotels and Transport for the trip. Therefore, you are required to book as early as possible. Release the payment in the given terms:
25% advance during the time of booking for confirmation
50% payment one month prior of arrival
25% Payment to be made upon arrival

Cancellation Policy:

• If the cancellation is made 30 days before the tour starts, 25% of the full payment will be deducted and 75% will be refunded.
• If the cancellation is made 20 days before the tour start, 35% of the full payment will be deducted and 70% will be refunded
• If the cancellation is made 07 days before the tour start, 80% will be deducted and 20% will be refunded.
• No refund is made if the trip is cancelled after the departure for Expedition.
• No refund is made during the running tour.
• The cost of travel permit or any other documentation charges will not be refundable
