Mount Chaukhamba 1 (7138 M)

Chaukhamba Peak is one of the most famed peaks in the Gangotri group of the Garhwal Himalayas. The name Chaukhamba translates to four pillars. Mount Chaukhamba has four pillar mountains: Chaukhamba I (7,138 M), Chaukhamba II (7,068 M), Chaukhamba III (6,974 M), and Chaukhamba IV (6,854 M). Standing tall in a snowy massif, the Gangotri glacier on the west surrounds Mount Chaukhamba, the Satopanth glacier on the east and the Bhagirathi glacier on the north. The first successful ascent to Chaukhamba I was made in 1952 by a group of French and Swiss mountaineers. Since then, many climbers have scaled Chaukhamba peaks over the years.

Mountaineering expeditions in the Uttarakhand Himalayas provide the perfect amalgamation of adventure and scenic masterpieces of nature. Being a technical peak, Mount Chaukhamba can only be climbed by experienced mountaineers. The high elevation, technical difficulty, and uncertain weather conditions add to the strenuous level of the expedition. The formidable Mt Chaukhamba has been on the bucket list of mountaineers who want to climb above 7000 M mountains in India.
Indian mountaineering company Kahlur Adventures India offers Chaukhmaba peak climb for all enthusiastic climbers. With the expert team of Kahlur Adventures, you will accomplish your dream of summiting one of India’s most prominent mountain peaks.

The cultural and spiritual significance of Chaukhamba peaks has made this expedition quite popular among a spectrum of climbers. The Gangotri glaciers that emerge from the slopes of Chaukhamba are the source of the holy river Ganga. The mountain is a watershed of rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi. Chaukhmaba Peak is close to other important mountain peaks such as Kedarnath, Kedar Dome, Satopanth, Mandani, Kharchakund and many more. The best time to climb Mt Chaukhamba is between late April to early June and Late September to October. You must maintain physical fitness and acquire high-altitude mountaineering skills before embarking on the trek to Chaukhmba I. Kahlur Adventures makes all the bookings in advance.
