Mount Kiagar Ri (also known as Kyagar Kangri or Kiager Ri) is a dream peak for many mountaineers and nature lovers from India and abroad. This 6,100 m high mountain in Ladakh is one of the best beginner 6000 m peaks in the Indian Himalayas. The Kiagar Ri expedition is non‑technical and perfect for climbers who want their first high‑altitude summit or a pre‑Everest training climb. Kahlur Adventures has been organising this expedition for the last three years and has many successful summits on this peak. The founder of Kahlur, Mr. Pankaj, summited Kiagar Ri on 01 January 2025, showing that this peak can be climbed even in winter with proper planning and support.
The Kiagar Ri climb takes you through the beautiful and remote landscapes of Ladakh. You will walk through wide valleys, barren mountains, and see crystal‑clear high‑altitude lakes with snow‑capped peaks all around. The trail is home to rare flowers, Himalayan marmots, blue sheep, and many species of birds. One of the biggest highlights of this expedition is Tso Moriri Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world. For anyone planning an 8000 m climb like Everest in Nepal in the 2027 season, Kiagar Ri is an ideal training peak to test your fitness, gear, and altitude readiness.
By climbing this non‑technical 6000 m peak, you can recheck all your climbing equipment in real mountain conditions. It is a great chance to do high‑altitude training, understand how your body reacts above 6,000 m, and test your limits before a bigger expedition. Many climbers use Kiagar Ri as a pre‑Everest or pre‑8000 m climb to gain confidence and experience in the Himalayas. You do not need advanced technical climbing skills for Kiagar Ri, but you must be physically fit and mentally prepared for cold, wind, and long summit days. Mount Kang Yatse II expedition will commence from Leh. Once you reach Leh, our representative will place you in a hotel pre-booked by Kahlur Adventures. You can explore the famous tourist spots in Leh at your convenience and spend the night at the hotel. Later in the evening The Kehloor Adventure guide will meet you at your hotel and brief you about the next plan, You can also buy or rent the equipment in Leh local market.

This day is for acclimatization and exploring the mountain city of Leh. Morning before breakfast go for a short hike to Shanti Stupa with your guide. Later in the day after breakfast, You visit the local market, Leh Palace, Monasteries, and other sights. Leh is a hub of Tibetan culture and the food here is scrumptious. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Today we will have breakfast before checking out from the hotel. Start on the drive to Sumdo from Leh with Kahlur Adventures. The drive will take around 4 hours. Upon arrival, you will settle for the night in a homestay in the quaint Sumdo village.

Since there is a reasonable gain in elevation, acclimatization is really important. Sumdo is a Himalayan village that has a splendid mix of natural beauty and cultural richness. Visit the Puga Hot Springs and Tsokar Frozen Lake. Later, you can converse with the locals and explore more of this Ladakhi village. Take plenty of rest to keep your energy up for the Summit day. Have dinner under the canopy of stars and retire for the night.

This is the most exciting day as we will make the summit push today. We will start hiking early at 4 am. You need to follow the instructions of Kahlur Adventures’ trek leader on the trail for your safety. Traversing through the rugged terrain of the Himalayas, you will be greeted by many stunning landscapes. There will be dramatic elevation changes and you need to keep moving steadily to remain unaffected by the thinning oxygen. You will greeted by breathtaking panoramic views of the snow-clad Himalayan range as you reach the top. After spending some time, start descending towards the base. The steep slopes need to be maneuvered carefully. This entire trek of climbing to the summit and return will take around 9 to 10 hours. Dinner in the lap of the Himalayas.

Morning after breakfast start driving to Leh city, check in to your hotel, and later in the evening return all your rental equipment and Join team Kahlur Adventure for summit celebration Dinner

When you have firmly decided to undertake the Tour with Kahlur Adventures, you will need to book the trip with us. We must allocate enough time to prepare, obtain necessary documents and permits, and book hotels and Transport for the trip.

25% Amount to be one week prior of arrival in India.
• If the cancellation is made 30 days before the tour starts, 25% of the full payment will be deducted and 75% will be refunded.
• If the cancellation is made 20 days before the tour start, 35% of the full payment will be deducted and 65% will be refunded
• If the cancellation is made 07 days before the tour start, 80% will be deducted and 20% will be refunded.
• No refund is made if the trip is cancelled after the departure for Expedition.
• No refund is made during the running tour.
• The cost of travel permit or any other documentation charges will not be refundable
