EXPEDITION OVERVIEW :

Mount Satopanth Expedition is ideal for climbers who want to take a leap of faith and set their foot in high-altitude mountain climbing. The sheer size of this mountain is intimidating yet inviting for adventurous mountaineers. Mt Satopanth peak expedition gives you a chance to climb one of the most exciting 7000er mountains of India. It is a technical mountain with an elevation of 7075 meters. Being the second highest peak in the Gangotri National Park in Uttarakhand, Satopanth peak has been on the bucket list of various mountain lovers. Kahlur Adventures plans a well-crafted expedition to Mount Satopanth peak so you can experience the magnificence of this brilliant marvel of nature and get a look at the other mountains of the Garhwal Ranges of the Himalayas. It may also interest you that the name “Satopanth” translates to ‘true path’ in the local dialect of this region.

The high altitude and technicality of Mount Satopanth in Uttarakhand India have made it a stepping stone for mountaineers who aspire to climb above other challenging 7000ers or 8000ers in the future. But this fact doesn’t state that climbing the Satopanth peak isn’t tough. Various complexities such as steep snow slopes, tricky glacier formations, crevasse-riddled surfaces, patches of ice and rock, technical sharp ridges, and dramatic weather changes make this expedition quite demanding. The chilling temperatures and violent wind make this expedition even more strenuous. Mt Satopanth was first scaled back by a Swiss expedition led by Andre Roch in 1947. The first woman to climb Mt Satopanth is Kavitha Reddy who completed this impressive task in 2012.

You will get incredible views of the entire Garhwal Himalaya range and Gangotri Glacier. The entire path of this trek is adorned with beautiful sites of mother nature’s glory. On your way up, you will be going through the banks of two holy rivers of India, Ganga, and Bhagirathi. To be eligible for the Mount Satopanth peak expedition, you need to have a certain skill set and knowledge of mountaineering equipment. This expedition is reserved for experienced climbers and you need mountaineering certification or alternative certification in high altitudes. You also need prior experience in mountaineering in extreme temperatures with a summit of over 6500 M to your credit to be able to go on this excursion. Survival at such a high altitude and grueling terrain can be hard.

We at Kahlur Adventures facilitate the endeavours of ambitious climbers by providing them with the best service on their expeditions. The safety of our clients is our priority and we make sure that the planning of the entire route is impeccable to deal with any unforeseen circumstances that may arrive on this journey. We believe that those who can dream big are also the ones who can most certainly achieve it. All your meals and accommodations are covered in the tour package of the Mount Satopanth peak expedition and our well-trained tour leader takes you on an adventure of a lifetime. Satopanth Tal trek is also one of the most prestigious treks among avid trekkers but it has an entirely separate route. Since you will be in the glorious Himalayas, don’t forget to revel in the local culture and cuisines.

Camp 1 is at an elevation of 5130 M and is about 250 M above the base camp. T0 reach Camp 1 you will walk on a narrow ridge with Chaturangi glacier on the left and Vasuki Parbat at your right. Satopanth Peak Expedition and you will require to use fixed ropes all the way up. The campsite is quite intriguing as it is on the top of a hanging glacier.

You will ascend on the fixed ropes and push yourself up on rocks and boulders. When you reach the Satopanth peak, you will have panoramic views of the Garhwal Himalayas and Tibetan Plateau. All the hardship endured by you while climbing the sharp ridges and technical peaks will prove to be worthwhile once you have achieved this extraordinary feat.

As you begin the descent, you will cover the distance between Summit Camp to Gangotri in 5 days. Although you will walk down the familiar path, you need to be focused as the path isn’t easy. You will trek till Gangotri and drive to Uttarkashi by the 22nd day of this expedition.
