Kedar Dome is an impressive 6832 M tall mountain peak that got its name from its dome-like shape and is also known as the Kedarnath dome. It is located in the Garhwal range of Himalayan peaks in Uttarakhand alongside the Bhagirathi massif, Meru Peak, Mt Shivling, Mt Satopanth and the Gangotri peaks. Mt Kedar Dome is just 2 km northeast of one of the holiest sites in India, the Kedarnath temple. Mount Kedar Dome is also a significant peak according to Hindu mythology and is considered the spiritual abode of Lord Shiva. On your way up to the peak, you will also get a mesmerising view of the Kedarnath temple nestled in the lap of the mountains of India. Kahlur Adventures India takes you on the Kedardome Expedition and you get to experience the brilliance of Mount Kedardome up close.
The expedition to Kedardome is considered less challenging than the nearby mountain peaks. The best part is that you get to climb 6000 m in India with some basic mountaineering skills on the Kedardome expedition. Apart from being a delight for both adventure seekers and spirituals, Mount Kedardome is popular among ski enthusiasts too. Kedardome is one of the preferred locations for skiing down expeditions above the 6000 M peak in India. You will be received at the airport by Kahlur Adventures’ airport representative. You will be taken to a hotel pre-booked for you and after check-in, you can explore the capital city of India. Delhi has a lot to offer, there are many historical monuments, museums, markets and even modern lounges that you can have a great time in. The street food of Delhi is famous worldwide and you must try them for an explosion of flavours in your mouth. After traversing the city, you will have dinner and stay in the hotel for the night.

After breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and head to the Indian
Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) to get some formalities done. You will be accompanied by Khalur Adventures’ representative to IMF. After finishing all the paperwork you will begin your drive toward Rishikesh. The drive from Delhi to Rishikesh is about 240 km long. Once you reach Rishikesh, you will check in a hotel and later you can explore the city. Rishikesh is a holy city and has many places of tourist attractions. You can also indulge in local food. After dinner, you will have your rest for the night.

On this day, you will go on a long drive of 175 km from Rishikesh to Uttarkashi. Post breakfast, you will head on this journey along with a Kahlur Adventures representative. You will be driving on some beautiful mountain roads with the backdrop of the Himalayan valley. Upon reaching Uttarkashi, you will be taken to your accommodations and after that, you can visit this little town which is an amalgamation of rich Garhwali culture and cuisines.

You will begin your day with a scrumptious breakfast early in the morning and get some formalities done for your expedition ahead. You will also get to visit the Forest Department of Uttarakhand. Later you will drive from Uttarkashi to Gangotri. The drive is 102 km long and the way is filled with scenic views to keep you engrossed. On this journey, you will experience the untouched beauty of the mountains in Uttarakhand. After you reach Gangotri, you will be taken to the guest house booked in advance by Kahlur Adventures for an overnight stay.

Post breakfast, you will begin this day’s journey by trekking towards Bhojbasa. On this day of the Kedardome Expedition, you will cover a distance of 14 km in about 4 to 5 hours trek. There will be a small halt for lunch in Chribasa which is a small village with a pine forest outline. After having your lunch, you will begin your trek again and will walk 0n a path alongside the river Bhagirathi. Upon reaching Bhojbasa, you will settle in the tents set up at a campsite, have your dinner here and retire in your tent for the night.

This day will begin early with breakfast at the campsite. You will leave behind Bhojbasa and start trekking towards Gaumukh followed by the Kahlur Adventures’ trek leader. The trek to Gaumukh is about 8 km long and will take about 2 to 3 hours. You will walk on a boulder region and glacial path. There will be a stopover in Gaumukh for lunch. After that, you will head towards the final destination for the day Tapovan. The trek towards Tapovan is challenging and you will walk on a path filled with cracks and boulders. On your way to Tapovan, you will gain considerable altitude and need to walk to maintain a slow and steady pace. Once you reach Tapovan, you will help us set up tents at the campsite. You can walk around after that and stroll across the meadows of wildflowers.

This day on the Mt Kedardome expedition is going to be very exciting. You will have an early morning breakfast and begin hiking to Kirti Glacier which is also the Base Camp on this expedition. You will be welcomed by the gorgeous mountain ranges of India in the entire pathway. You will walk on rough terrains and moraines to reach the Kirti Glacier. It may interest you that on the southwest side, Kirti Glacier meets Gangotri Glacier and later become a part of the river Ganga. On arriving at Kirti Glacier, we will set up the tent and have our dinner under the stars and later retire to your tent for the night.

The days ahead are for acclimatization and later the attempt to summit Mount Kedardome. You need a certain skill set and knowledge of technical climbing on the steep path of falling seracs. After the required acclimatization as per the guidance of Kahlur Adventures’ trek leaders, the plan will be followed for the summit. Along the way, many camps will be set up to relax and carry on this strenuous task. You will walk on big boulder ridden ramps, and sharp narrow ridges and later get the first striking glimpse of Mount Kedardome. You will be trained to use the equipment for technical climbing such as an ice axe, crampons and proper technique to walk in snow boots. You will also get a chance to rope down in a huge glacial region and on the day of the summit, you will begin the climb at around 2 in the morning. Once you reach the top of Mount Kedardome, you will get to soak in the unadulterated beauty of this 6832 M tall peak. You will get the awe-inspiring views of nearby mountain ranges, Bhagirathi peaks, Mount Shivling, and Mount Meru among others. After spending some time at the peak, you will begin descending towards the nearest camp. One day is reserved if the first attempt to summit Mount Kedardome isn’t successful due to any unforeseeable circumstances. The weather at such a high altitude tends to be unpredictable and on certain occasions, the violent winds make it hard to execute the plan of the expedition. After accomplishing your goal to summit Mount Kedardome, you will return to the Base Camp at Kirti glacier in different phases of the descent.

You will begin your day with an early morning breakfast and start trekking towards Bhojbasa. You will walk on the familiar paths that you took on your way up. The trek today will be with a small halt at Tapovan for lunch and you can once again stroll through the enchanting meadows of wildflowers. After having your lunch and relaxing for a bit, you will begin descending toward Bhojbasa. Upon reaching Bhojbasa, you will have your dinner at the campsite and stay in the tent overnight.

On this day, you will cover a really long distance. You will begin the trek down to Gangotri early in the morning after breakfast. The walk to Gangotri isn’t very difficult and you will be able to trek down this 14 km in about 4 to 5 hours. You will have your lunch in Gangotri and take a bus from there to Uttarkashi. Once you reach Uttarkashi, you will be taken to a guest house pre-booked for you by Kahlur Adventures, so you can catch up on some much-deserved rest and after dinner, you will get some good night’s sleep in your cosy room.

After having your breakfast, you will leave behind Uttarkashi and begin your road trip towards Rishikesh. On this drive, you will be accompanied by Kahlur Adventures’ representative and you can enjoy the picturesque beauty of the Indian Mountains. Once you reach the holy city of Rishikesh, you will check in a hotel pre-booked for you and later you can spend the day as per your wish.

Today you will be driven from Rishikesh to Delhi. You will reach Delhi by late afternoon and be settled in a hotel for the night. You will also get to have a celebratory dinner with the team of Kahlur Adventures.

You will check out from the hotel after a delicious breakfast. Kahlur Adventures’ airport representative will drop you at the airport and you will board your flight home. When you have firmly decided to undertake the Tour with Kahlur Adventures, you will need to book the trip with us. We must allocate enough time to prepare, obtain necessary documents and permits, and book hotels and Transport for the trip.

50% Amount one month prior of arrival in India
25% Amount to be one week prior of arrival in India
• If the cancellation is made 30 days before the tour starts, 25% of the full payment will be deducted and 75% will be refunded.
• If the cancellation is made 20 days before the tour start, 35% of the full payment will be deducted and 70% will be refunded
• If the cancellation is made 07 days before the tour start, 80% will be deducted and 20% will be refunded.
• No refund is made if the trip is cancelled after the departure for Expedition.
